SuperPetz Closed -- Friday July 9th, 2010

CARE was sad to learn that SuperPetz, our second home for many years, closed the doors for good on Friday.

We are thankful to SuperPetz for all they have done for CARE over the years. In addition to allowing us to use their store to show our pets for adoption, they have also worked hard to raise funds for us. Many of the employees adopted their pets from CARE.

We will miss our SuperPetz family and wish them all the best.

Puppies!Puppies!Puppies! -- Sunday June 27th, 2010

CARE has tons of puppies for adoption. A litter of eleven (11) was born in foster care. Sally came to us after being rescued off the streets, barefoot and pregnant. Her puppies are now ready to leave the nest and go to their forever homes. They were large when they were born, so we expect them to be large as adults. Lots to love! Sally needs a home, too. She's been a mother and now she deserves to be babied!

We also have two (2) puppies who emerged from the woods one hot day. Tipper and Hillary will most likely be medium sized dogs.

Prada is the sole surviving puppy from a litter born to a purebred American Bulldog mother and GSD mix father. She is a fun girl with a zest for life.

We also have two (2) Double Merle Sheltie puppies who will be ready for new homes soon. These are special needs puppies who will need special homes. The male is deaf and the female is both deaf and blind.

Submit your application today to CARE for a puppy of your own.

Rufus is SAFE -- Sunday June 13th, 2010

Mozart hospitalized -- Tuesday June 8th, 2010

Update: Mozart had his drain tube removed and is back on solid foods. He was able to go home on Saturday June 12. He is still recovering but happy to be out of the hospital. Thank you for all the prayers, well wishes, and donations for Mozart. He will get his feeding tube and sutures removed in a week. The vets are all very happy with his progress. l

Mozart was rushed to the ER on Friday evening, June 4th. It wasn't bloat again, although he did have a lot of gas in his abdomen. He was taken into surgery the next day. The doctors had to remove 30% of Mozart's stomach because it was necrotic (dead). He is now being tube fed and must remain at the clinic until he is able to eat on his own. His prognosis is guarded still, but he is doing better at the moment.

CARE really needs the community's support with Mo's vet bill. The total below reflects what his bill is at currently. It will change daily as he has to stay hospitalized until his blood levels improve and he can eat & keep down food on his own.

Neuter, shots, hw test, lump removal and dental = $480.00
Bloat surgery and follow up care = $900.00
Bill for this weekend at ER clinic and surgery =$4910.00

Wine & Tapas -- Tuesday June 8th, 2010

Gervais & Vine is once again holding a Dog House wine fundraiser for CARE. The last fundraiser brought in almost $2,000. Kristian's timing could not be better with Mozart's rising medical bills.

Gervais & Vine will donate $1 for each glass and $5 for every bottle of Dog House Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon sold starting June 8 and running through the end of the month.

Giving never tasted so good!
