 Today many shelters face financial problems in part because of the widespread [incorrect] belief that donations given to national groups, such as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), filter down to local pet shelters. The Human Society for Shelter Pets (HSSP) has a database on its website enabling visitors to quickly and easily obtain all the information they need to donate to local shelters. HSSP will also work to create a network of veterinarians and sheltering professionals, giving them the tools to promote the “give local” message to their clients. Adoption Days
CARE does not have a physical shelter. All of the rescued pets live with someone who has volunteered to open up their heart and home to them until their forever family is found. We hold monthly adoption days at local pet stores so that people can meet their potential pets. Pet Lover's Warehouse & Pet Basics are our adoption day partners. CARE is in desperate need of Foster homes for rabbits! We have gotten emails this week asking us to take in 11-15 new rabbits and we just have no space for them. Please let us know ASAP if you are interested in fostering rabbits so we can step up for them!

Gunnar and his sister were thrown over the (locked) fence of a CARE Volunteer. We are full and out of foster space, so they are living outside in a kennel. They are both nervous and shy and need more than we can give. Gunnar is coming around faster than his sister and would blossom in a foster or adoptive home where he can be indoors and get more attention. Bruce Lee is a very sweet rabbit. His foster mom reports hes doing great with litter box training and loves that she added a x-pen to his cage so he can hop in and out of cage. He loves nose scratches and adores attention from his foster mom. Bruce would do well with older considerate children or adults who are looking for a great companion.
